Kagiso Rabada, South Africa’s pace spearhead, made an enormous impression on the grandest platform, striking twice in a single over during the World Test Championship (WTC) Final 2025 against Australia at Lord’s on June 11. The 30-year-old pacer shifted the momentum in South Africa’s advantage early in the game.
South African skipper Temba Bavuma won the toss and chose to bowl first. Usman Khawaja and Marnus Labuschagne opened Australia’s innings, while Rabada and Marco Jansen took the new ball for the Proteas.
Khawaja, Australia’s highest run-scorer this WTC cycle, struggled to get off the ground. He was under tremendous pressure and played numerous dot balls before succumbing in the seventh over. On the third ball of the over, Rabada delivered a length delivery outside the off-stump. The ball remained somewhat low and soared off the surface, taking Khawaja by surprise. He tried a defensive stroke, nudging it to the left of first slip, where David Bedingham made a clean catch. Khawaja walked back without scoring.

Cameron Green came in next and scored four runs off Kagiso Rabada first ball.
But Rabada had the final laugh. He delivered the final delivery of the over with a fuller ball that angled in and then shaped away late. The right-hander attempted to hold it in front of him, but it went to Aiden Markram at second slip. Despite Wiaan Mulder’s dive blocking his view, Markram maintained his calm and made a crisp, low catch.
Australia found themselves in trouble after losing two crucial wickets in four deliveries. His scorching over shook the Australian top order, giving South Africa an early advantage in the Ultimate Test.
