Suryavanshi was signed by the Royals during the IPL 2025 mega auction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, last year. He won a contract of INR 1.10 crore, making him the youngest person to ever land a deal in the lucrative competition. The Bihar batter was only 13 years old at the time, and no one could have predicted that such a child would not only be selected, but would also amaze everyone with his beautiful batting performance.
Suryavanshi made his IPL debut against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on April 19, at Jaipur’s Sawai Mansingh Stadium. He took over for Captain Sanju Samson, who had been injured. The left-handed hitter opened the innings with Yashasvi Jaiswal, hitting the first ball for a maximum. Suryavanshi stunned the cricketing world with a quick 34 off 20 balls.
However, two games later, he demonstrated a different side of his game by pummelling the Gujarat Titans bowlers on his way to a 35-ball century. Suryavanshi received high accolades from both professionals and fans for how at ease he appeared in the presence of Mohammed Siraj, Ishant Sharma, and Prasidh Krishna, among others. The teenager left a lasting impression in his first IPL season.
