Mukesh Kumar, a bowler for the Delhi Capitals, was fined 10% of his match pay for violating the IPL Code of Conduct in the 63rd IPL 2025 match against the Mumbai Indians. At the Wankhede Stadium, where Delhi’s 59-run loss solidified their elimination from postseason contention, the incident took place on Wednesday.
Mukesh agreed to the punishment given by match referee Daniel Manohar for a Level 1 infraction under Article 2.2, which deals with misusing cricket gear, apparel, ground equipment, fixtures, and fittings while a game is in progress.
In the must-win game, Mukesh Kumar gave up 48 runs in his four overs, including a vital 27-run 19th over that pushed MI’s total, making his frustration clear.
Mumbai reached 180/5 as Suryakumar Yadav and Naman Dhir hit a string of boundaries in the over. Mukesh was fined for his misuse of equipment in the aftermath of the over. Even after taking the wickets of Tilak Varma and Will Jacks, Mukesh found it difficult to stop the run flow, particularly in the final overs.
Prior to MI’s late flourish in the final 12 deliveries of the innings, the game appeared well matched for the first 18 overs. During the middle overs, Delhi’s spinners Vipraj Nigam and Kuldeep Yadav bowled brilliantly. DC’s batting lineup fell apart in response to Mitchell Santner and Jasprit Bumrah. Young Sameer Rizvi (39) and Vipraj (20) put up a fight, but DC was bowled out for 121 in 18.2 overs. MI won easily thanks to Santner and Bumrah’s combined six wickets. At an economy rate of 10.11, Mukesh has taken 11 wickets in 11 of DC’s 13 games this season.
