Virat Kohli, the outstanding batsman, was hailed by former Indian head coach Ravi Shastri as the most significant cricketer of the previous ten years. The former cricket player who is now a commentator praised the Delhi-born player as a modern-day legend.

Together with Kohli, Shastri formed one of the most successful coach-captain combinations in Indian cricket history. Shastri was one of the best coaches in the Indian cricket organisation. They were linked for two periods: from 2017 to 2021 and from 2014 to 2016.

India won the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series twice in Australia, in 2018–19 and 2020–21, and advanced to the 2019 World Cup semifinals as a result of their collaboration.

“He belonged to a different class of cricketers – He has been the most influential cricketer of the last decade,” Shastri stated.

There are a lot of memorable moments, some of them are quite intimate to me. He played a style of cricket that no other Indian or captain played. The Mumbai-born cricket player stated, “He is a true modern-day giant, as I wrote in my social media post (on X, formerly Twitter).”

From 2017 to 2019, India maintained its top spot in Test cricket for three years in a row, led by Kohli and Shatri.

In addition, the men in blue defeated South Africa 5-1 in the ODI series, marking the nation’s first bilateral ODI series victory following four prior unsuccessful tries. Shastri last served as the Indian team’s coach for the 2021 T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates, which also occurred to be Kohli’s final series as a white-ball captain.
