Rolan Gomes, who survived the horrific Bengaluru stampede tragedy, has filed a First Information Report (FIR) with the Cubbon Park Police Station against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), and DNA Agency for bad event management. The 25-year-old blamed the three agencies for the deaths of 11 individuals and the injury of nearly 40 others.

Prior to Gomes, another FIR was filed against the same three agencies, resulting in the arrest of four DNA Entertainment Private Limited officials for their role in planning the event. Bengaluru Police and the Crime Branch conducted a joint operation in this respect. The hearing has been rescheduled on June 16.

Meanwhile, the Karnataka High Court has instructed the Bengaluru Police not to take any action against the KSCA members. Raghuram Bhat, President of the Board, A Shankar, Secretary, and ES Jayaram, Treasurer, asked the High Court to consider refraining from taking any action against them.

State’s political Secretary and City Police Commissioner suspended

Justice S R Krishna Kumar, who heard the plea from KSCA officials, granted them interim relief. Actions have already been taken against police personnel, including B Dayananda, the City Police Commissioner, who was held responsible for the lack of safety. Seemant Kumar Singh has been appointed as the new City Police Commissioner.

K Govindaraj, an MLC who served as the Political Secretary to Karnataka Chief Minister S Siddaramaiah, was also removed from his post with immediate effect. The Bengaluru stampede incident has visibly shaken the administrative landscape of the city and those responsible for handling the event.

As RCB won their maiden title by defeating Punjab Kings in the final, celebrations erupted across the globe.

RCB’s official handle took to social media to confirm the victory celebrations. However, due to rain, a cement structure collapsed outside the stadium, triggering panic among fans and eventually leading to the tragic stampede.
