Derbyshire County Cricket Club has signed Pakistani fast bowler Zaman Khan for this summer’s Vitality Blast Twenty20 League. Zaman is expected to arrive at the end of May, joining a pace unit that comprises George Scrimshaw, Sam Conners, and Suranga Lakmal of Sri Lanka.
He has participated in 49 T20s over the course of his career, accumulating 59 wickets at an average of 23.35 with best figures of 4-16 and clocking 90 mph in the limited overs format. Zaman, who debuted for Pakistan against Afghanistan in March 2023, has participated in six T20Is with an economy rate of 6.66.
Zaman, according to Derbyshire’s Head of Cricket Mickey Arthur, is one of Pakistan’s most promising young fast bowlers, and he also contributes experience to their squad. He also discussed his performance in his international début for Pakistan and the management’s delight in having him on board.
“Zaman Khan is one of the most promising young fast bowlers in Pakistan, and he brings T20 success from around the globe to our dressing room, which will assist us in achieving our own objectives.
“He recently made his debut in one of the best international white ball attacks and looked right at home, so it’s incredibly exciting to have him join our T20 campaign,” said Arthur.
I’ve always desired the opportunity to perform in England: Zaman Khan
Zaman Khan stated that it was a fantasy come true for him to play for the County team under Mickey Arthur after being signed by Derbyshire. Then, he praised the club, stating that they have been successful over the past few years and that he was thrilled to join this team.
“Playing in England has always been a goal of mine, and working with Mickey Arthur at Derbyshire is a fantasy come true. “Over the past few years, Derbyshire have been dominant in Twenty20 cricket, so I’m excited to play with this squad and see if we can challenge again this summer,” said Zaman.
