Yashasvi Jaiswal, a young opener for the Rajasthan Royals, has shown a lot of potential and shown what he’s made of in the IPL 2023. So far, the 21-year-old has made 575 runs in 13 games, which puts him in third place for most runs scored in the tournament.
The cricketer has used a wide range of shots, which has excited Kevin Pietersen so much that he thinks Jaiswal can definitely be on India’s 50-over World Cup team.
Pietersen also thinks that Jaiswal and Shubman Gill will be the stars of the Indian team in the future. He wants the team’s leaders to stop wasting time and give Jaiswal and Shubman Gill more chances to shine on the world stage.
“In Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal, we see the future of India’s top order. I think Jaiswal would be a great choice for the 50-over World Cup. I’d cut his throat and then let him go. I think 50 overs will be a thing of the past soon, but I’d put him in the team right away,” Pietersen wrote in a piece for Betway.
Jaiswal and Gill are stars and top-notch people: Pietersen
Shubman Gill hit a spectacular century in the game against Sunrisers Hyderabad. With that run, he now has 576 runs in 13 games in the IPL 2023. He is also second on the list of IPL Orange Cap winners, and he has a good chance of beating Faf du Plessis in the games left. Pietersen said that he and Jaiswal are both clear stars who are going to do great things.
“The IPL gives three things to young players. It gives them the chance to play, makes them known to fans all over the world, and helps them stay calm enough to do their best even when the fight is the most intense. The stadiums are packed, everything is busy, and the level of activity is high. If you make it through all of that and check off all three boxes, you are meant to play sports on an international level. I’ve seen that especially from these two young people, they’re stars. “They’re not just good or bad cricket players, they’re the best,” Pietersen wrote.
