After guiding the Delhi Capitals to their first victory in IPL 2023, David Warner will lead them against Sunrisers Hyderabad in their next match. Warner, who was a member of the Orange Army in previous IPL seasons, will not lack support at Uppal. The Australian will be hoping his team maintains the momentum from the previous match and puts on a much-improved performance against Aiden Markram’s side.
Former India cricketer Mohammad Kaif believes that Delhi Capitals will need to revise their strategy moving forward in order to remain competitive.
In an interview with Star Sports’ Cricket Live, Kaif stated, “Delhi must concentrate on its team composition. This group must reconsider its strategy. There are numerous issues within the team, and the players’ morale has suffered as a result. Now, Delhi Capitals must forget about everything else and concentrate on winning consistently, which is not impossible.”
SRH may have lost their last two games in a row, but this team has a number of talented players who can alter the course of the game. Harry Brook is one such athlete for SRH, and opponents will be on guard against him.
Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan praised the English top-order batsman for his extensive array of batting strokes. “Harry Brook has a wide variety of shots, and he has displayed a great deal of maturity in his IPL knocks so far.”The more he plays in the IPL, the better he will become against spin,” said Pathan.
Ajinkya Rahane has modified his playing style. Mithali Raj
Meanwhile, on Sunday, Chennai Super Kings defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by 49 runs to earn a resounding victory and 10 points to move to the top of the team standings. The MS Dhoni-led team has found match-winners in seasoned campaigner Ajinkya Rahane and rookie pacer Matheesha Pathirana, despite missing some important players due to injury.
In his first season with CSK, Rahane’s explosive batting performances have rocked the IPL. Former India cricketer Mithali Raj praised the Mumbai native for remaking his game at CSK after a string of disappointing campaigns.
“Rahane has altered his style of play. Because he desired to conform to the T20 format, he altered his game. There has been no change in his strikes, but there has been a substantial shift in his strategy. This Rahane appears brand new,” stated Mithali Raj.
Pathirana, the young Sri Lankan right-arm bowler, is generating a lot of buzz not only because of his action, but also because he bowls in the correct areas. Former India cricketer Krishnamachari Srikkanth compared the youth from Kandy to the legendary Lasith Malinga.
“This youthful bowler Pathirana is Malinga’s replacement. He has a distinctive throwing motion, consistently throws faster than 140 mph, and is very accurate. He also bowls to the correct areas, making him a hazardous bowler. Excellent investment by CSK, remarked Srikkanth.
