The 2023 ODI World Cup is only a few years away. The major event, which is scheduled to start on October 5 and be entirely hosted by India, will take place for the first time. The fans will be considering who they believe to be the competition’s favorite as the event is about to start. Speaking of the same, great former Australian batter Adam Gilchrist took the spotlight and identified his top four picks for the championship. Gilchrist identified India, Pakistan, Australia, and England as the four potential contenders for a spot in the World Cup semifinals.
According to India Today’s Adam Gilchrist, “I think India and Pakistan could feature; Australia and England are two other teams.”
Adam Gilchrist also expressed optimism for Australia, believing that they will succeed in India by using what they had learned during the South Africa series and the upcoming warm-up matches.
“When Australia visits India, they will have a lot to learn from their experiences in South Africa. Before the World Cup versus India, they have three games left. The fact that they will be fielding a squad closer to full strength should provide us with some insight into their current situation, according to Gilchrist.
They are a very informed group: Gilchrist Gilchrist also discussed how drastically different conditions are in India from those in South Africa. Gilchrist singled out spinner Adam Zampa, saying that while he was the victim in South Africa, he will be eager to show his worth at the ODI World Cup.
“Adam Zampa was somewhat on the receiving end in South Africa, but there are different conditions and surfaces here in India. He is a world-class spin bowler, as evidenced particularly in T20 cricket, and he now has the opportunity to compete in the 50-over World Cup. They must exploit their knowledge of batting lineups from all over the world and play fearlessly because they are a very knowledgeable group, Gilchrist said.
