On Monday, March 20, at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy, the 18th match of the current Women’s Premier League (WPL) season will be played between Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals. So far in the marquee tournament, Mumbai has played some exciting cricket and won their first five games, which earned them a spot in the playoffs.
But Mumbai wasn’t at their best when they played UP Warriorz. They lost by five wickets, which was their first loss of the season. When they played the Capitals, they would want to be as good as they used to be and get back to winning.
On the other hand, Delhi Capitals have also been playing some exciting cricket. Thanks to their amazing performances, they are second on the points table with four wins out of six games. Even though they have already made it to the knockout rounds, they want to win the WPL 2023 points table and go to the final match.
But Meg Lanning and her teammates would have to be at their best when they face the Mumbai team. Their batsmen didn’t do their job against Gujarat Giants, and Delhi couldn’t catch up to 148 runs. The team’s leaders would like the batters to do better in Monday’s game.
Pitch and the Terms
The DY Patil Sports Academy has made a wicket that is both good for batting and good for bowling. The chasing team has won the last five games played at this site, so the team that wins the toss will likely choose to bowl first.
Most likely lineup for MI-W vs. DEL-W
Mumbai Indians Women
Mumbai Indians have been consistent in who they pick for their team, and they haven’t made many changes to their playing XI. Even though Harmanpreet & Co. lost their last game, they are likely to play with the same team.
Probable Playing XI: Hayley Matthews, Yastika Bhatia (wk), Nat Sciver-Brunt, Harmanpreet Kaur (c), Amelia Kerr, Issy Wong, Humaira Kazi, Dhara Gujjar, Amanjot Kaur, Jintimani Kalita, Saika Ishaque
Delhi Capitals Women
In their last game, Delhi Capitals put Poonam Yadav on their team instead of left-arm fast bowler Tara Norris. Since spinners tend to do better on the surface at Navi Mumbai, the team management is likely to keep the same team.
Meg Lanning (captain), Shafali Verma, Alice Capsey, Jemimah Rodrigues, Marizanne Kapp, Jess Jonassen, Taniya Bhatia (wk), Arundhati Reddy, Radha Yadav, Shikha Pandey, and Poonam Yadav are likely to be in the playing XI.
