On his fourth delivery, Sundar’s second victim was Sarfaraz Khan, who edged a sweep shot direct to Bhuvneshwar Kumar at deep backward square leg.
After DC lost their fourth wicket, Aman Hakim Khan strode to the crease and smashed a boundary off the very first delivery he faced to get off to a spectacular start. However, Washington Sundar had the last laugh as Khan again attempted to go big on the leg side on the final delivery of the over, but ended up getting a leading edge that went directly to Abhishek Sharma at cover.
This wicket signaled the conclusion of Washington Sundar action-packed over, which produced three wickets for SRH.
The 23-year-old was criticized for his subpar performances throughout the current season. After their most recent match against CSK, SRH head coach Brian Lara stated that the management is tolerant with the all-rounder.
The Chennai-born cricketer repaid the management’s faith by claiming his first wickets of the IPL 2023. DC were reduced to 91/5 after 13 overs, with Axar Patel 11*(19) and Manish Pandey 16*(12) at the crease due to his game-changing spell.
