New Delhi, September 8, 2024: The Women’s Delhi Premier League Champions, North Delhi Strikers Women, were crowned on Sunday following their 10-run victory over South Delhi Superstarz Women in the championship match held at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Upasana Yadav was the star of the show. Her unbeaten 114 from 67 balls, which included three sixes and eight fours, helped the team reach a huge 20-over total of 179/3.
Tanisha Singh spearheaded South Delhi’s counterattack, scoring 72 off 40 balls, although her team was unable to reach the mark by 10 runs. They started their 180-run chase off strong, but before the conclusion of the powerplay, with 46 runs scored, they had lost their opening pair, Chhavi Gupta (20 off 20) and Shweta Sehrawat (13 off 11). as that, South Delhi Superstarz reached 84/3 as Riya Soni and Tanisha Singh combined for 38 runs off 29 balls. Soni was removed in the eleventh over.
Upasana Yadav also made history by becoming the first player in the Women’s Delhi Premier League T20 to score a century.
After that, Tanisha Singh steadied the innings and, with Nidhi Mahto, the squad was able to reach the 100-run milestone in 12.1 overs. After Singh reached her fifty in 27 balls, 36 balls remain in order to score the remaining 59 runs.
In the 17th over, Bharti Rawal dismissed Mahto (15 off 16), ending their 60-run partnership off 37. In the next over, Soni Yadav struck twice, dismissing R Priyadarshini (1 off 2) and Singh (72 off 40), leaving South Delhi Superstarz at 151/6 after 18 overs.
Then, in the penultimate over, Ekta Bhadana and Manju Godara hammered 15 runs to cut the equation 14 needed off the final six balls. In the last over, Nazma Sultana bowled a controlled over, dismissing Godara (6 off 4) and Bhadana (13 off 8) to hold South Delhi Superstarz Women to 169/8 and ultimately win the title.
Mansi Sharma (0 off 5) was lost early by North Delhi Strikers Women earlier in the match. Subsequently, Upasana Yadav, who was hitting form, assumed the lead and anchored the innings with an incredible tonne. By the end of the Powerplay, she and Monika had helped the team surpass the 50-run mark in total. Yadav easily found the boundaries and reached her fifty in thirty-six balls in the eleventh over, but Monika (19 off fifteen) was out in the seventh over.

She quickly reached her century in 62 balls. In the allowed 20 overs, Yadav led North Delhi Strikers Women to a score of 179/3 with the help of Ayushi Soni, who contributed a solid 31 off 34. Aarti Kumari, on the other hand, gave South Delhi Superstarz Women results of 2/34.
