Following the one-sided match, former India captain Sunil Gavaskar took aim at the RCB hitters for failing to provide Kohli enough help.
RCB lost captain Faf du Plessis in the second over of the match after KKR won the toss and chose to bowl first. Before Cameron Green left for 33, Virat Kohli and the latter forged a 65-run partnership. Despite being benched twice, Glenn Maxwell (28) was unable to force KKR to pay for it.

Before Dinesh Karthik produced an undefeated 20-run cameo off eight balls to end the innings, Rajat Patidar and Anuj Rawat were both removed after scoring three runs apiece. After carrying his bat, Kohli scored 83 runs off of 59 balls, his second half-century in a row. Midway through the innings, Green also gave him the Orange Cap.
After 20 overs, RCB reached 182/6 to end their innings. The total seemed a little low at a ground where defending is quite challenging, even though some of the KKR pacers’ slower deliveries were compelling. In the end, the visitors breezed through the chase, claiming victory with 19 balls and seven wickets remaining.

“You tell me how much Kohli will do alone; someone should accompany him. If someone had supported him today, he would definitely have scored 120 instead of 83, so this is a team sport, not a single-man game; he didn’t get any support today,” Gavaskar stated on Star Sports.

Kohli smashed four fours and as many sixes during his hard-hitting knock. With his third six, the Delhi batsman surpassed MS Dhoni’s record of 239 IPL sixes. With 241 maximums under his belt, Kohli is now ranked fourth among batsmen in the IPL with the most sixes. Rohit Sharma (261), AB de Villiers (251) and Chris Gayle (357) are in the first three positions.
Returning to the match, Sunil Narine took one wicket and hit an explosive 47 off of 22 balls to win Player of the Match. Shreyas Iyer, the skipper of the Kolkata Knight Riders, was undefeated at 39 off 24 balls, then Venkatesh Iyer struck a magnificent half-century.
When the RCB meets the Lucknow Super Giants on Tuesday, April 2, at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, they will try to recover. On the following day, KKR, who have won both of their games thus far, will play the Delhi Capitals in Visakhapatnam.
