Rinku Singh, a middle-order batter for the Kolkata Knight Riders, has played great cricket in the IPL 2023 so far, getting 474 runs in 14 games. He had scored the most runs for the Nitish Rana-led team at the end of the season. Harbhajan Singh and Ravi Shastri, two former India bowlers, have already said that he should be on the Indian team. Former Australian player Tom Moody thinks Rinku is ready to play for his country.
Tom Moody praised the cricketer from Aligarh by saying that he is very cool under pressure and has the right attitude to end games on his own terms. The 57-year-old added that Rohit Sharma’s team might take him into consideration for the upcoming ODI World Cup.
“We know for sure now that he’s the guy India should think about as a winner for the World Cups to come. He has shown a lot of guts, skill, and steadiness at bat. Because he knows the game, he has no doubt built a good name for himself. He has a first-class mark of nearly 60. He didn’t just come out of nowhere as a really good ball scorer with no background. Moody said on ESPN cricinfo, “One of the most impressive things about him is his temperament. The best finishers have very calculated minds that can also stay calm under pressure, and he seems to have both.”
He also thinks that Rinku Singh has the same kind of personality as Michael Bevan and Michael Hussey.
Tom Moody said that the 25-year-old Rinku is like these two legends because he knows how to finish games in a very calm way.
“Look, I don’t know him personally and I’ve never worked with him, but as a fan and a watcher, I think he’s calm. He is in charge. I’ve seen that in the past with guys like Michael Bevan, with whom I’ve played a lot of cricket. In 50-over cricket, he sometimes seemed like the game was getting away from him, but now he has everything under control. Michael Bevan is older than Mike Hussey. “They just seem to know how to end a game in a very calm and collected way,” he said.
