Given that Kishan was a regular in the T20I squad, former India international Aakash Chopra questioned Kishan’s availability. Important cricketer KL Rahul is also out of the T20I series against Afghanistan. He was left off the roster following his final Twenty20 international match, which he played against England in the 2022 T20 World Cup. For the series, which is scheduled to start on January 11, Jitesh Sharma and Sanju Samson are the preferred keeper-batters.
Meanwhile, Mohammed Shami is still recovering from an ankle ailment, so Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj will be rested in order to be fit for the five-match Test series against England.
