The West Indies will get ready for a three-match ODI series against Rohit Sharma‘s India after recently losing a two-match Test series against them. Notably, the first encounter of the three-match ODI series is set to take place on Thursday, July 27, while the final match is set for Tuesday, August 1.
The West Indies announced their ODI team to play India with the series just around the corner. The West Indies will be eager to start again and will want to return to their best as quickly as possible after their crushing losses at the ODI World Cup Qualifiers and elimination from the premier event.
Many of the players in the squad that was announced for the ODI series had previously played for the national team. Shimron Hetmyer, a powerful hitter, was a returning member of the team. Along with Jayden Seales and leg spinner Yannick Cariah, pacer Oshane Thomas was also added.
We warmly welcome back Oshane and Shimron Hetmyer to the group: Desmond Haynes
Desmond Haynes, the team’s head selector, also entered the scene after the squad was chosen and greeted Thomas and Hetmyer as they entered their 50-over setup. He also gave both players high praise, stating that Shimron Hetmyer finishing skills and Thomas’ quickness would be advantageous for the hosts.
“We are glad to have Oshane and Shimron back among us. Both have experience playing successfully at the international level, and we think they’ll both fit in well with the team, according to Desmond Haynes, who was reported by cricketmood.
“Oshane adds speed and has the ability to take wickets with the new ball,” the commentator said. Shimron is also a potential “finisher,” so his hitting approach will provide a lot, particularly in the middle of innings, “he continued.
