For the forthcoming tour to Sri Lanka, India’s Twenty20 international captain will be Suryakumar Yadav. Fans are excited and curious about this choice that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made. Yadav, who is renowned for his outstanding batting abilities in the game’s shortest format, is now up against the task of captaining the national squad.
India’s ODI and T20I squads for the July 27–28 Sri Lanka tour were just released by the BCCI. Yadav will captain the T20I team, with Shubman Gill serving as his deputy, while Rohit Sharma will head the ODI setup. Many people are surprised by this choice, especially in light of the fact that Hardik Pandya, the team’s former captain, is included in the T20I roster. Yadav has responded with joy and thankfulness to this new role.
“I sincerely appreciate all of your love, support, and well wishes. The past two weeks have been amazing, and for that, I am sincerely thankful. I will never be able to adequately express the most unique sensation I have when I play for my nation. Along with a great deal of responsibility comes excitement and enthusiasm for this new task. I’m hoping to continue getting your blessings and support. In his Instagram post, Suryakumar stated, “All fame reaches God; God is great.”

Having guided Team India in the past, Suryakumar Yadav was essential to the country’s victory in the T20 World Cup.
Suryakumar Yadav’s outstanding performance in Twenty20 cricket, together with his prior experience of captaining Team India through seven matches in 2023 when Pandya was out, probably played a significant role in this decision. Since Yadav and he were teammates at the Kolkata Knight Riders, Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir has made no secret of Yadav’s leadership abilities. This tour will put the prolific batter’s leadership abilities to the test.
