Stuart Broad, one of England’s top pacers, hung up his boots following the 2023 Ashes series on July 29, 2023. The 37-year-old became the second pacer in the format with the most wickets after James Anderson after playing 167 Tests for England and taking 604 wickets. On July 18, during the second Test of the series between the hosts and the West Indies, Nottinghamshire named a stand in his honour and in recognition of his service to England cricket.
Stuart Broad played for Nottinghamshire and was born there as well. After that, he played for Marylebone Cricket Club and Leicestershire.
He received recognition as a Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (CBE) as part of King Charles’ New Year’s honours upon his retirement. Returning to the stands, Broad opened them at Trent Bridge Stadium prior to the game.

Ben Duckett wreaks havoc across Nottinghamshire
In reference to the second Test, West Indies won the toss and chose to bowl first, allowing England to wreak havoc early in the innings. Zak Crawley returned in pursuit of a duck, and Ben Duckett appeared with a vengeance. England cleared the fifty-run mark in just 4.2 overs, setting a new record for fastest team fifty. Ducket, having scored an explosive 71 runs off 59 deliveries, backed off. Though Duckett was scheduled to go for the birth of his first child ahead of the game, his involvement remained uncertain.

Ben and his partner have a strategy in place. In the event that it occurs before the game and we are batting, we will have to decide. Ben will go and then rejoin the team if it occurs during the test. Although he is really excited to participate in this Test match, my message to him—along with that of Baz, our head coach Brendon McCullum—is that family comes first. Prior to the game, Stokes declared, “He has our complete support, no matter what choice he makes.”
