On Day 2 of India’s 5th Test match against England, Shubman Gill’s genius stole the show amid a batting assault at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Stadium in Dharamsala. As Gill, who had been struggling with form, scored his fourth Test century in 137 deliveries, Aakash Chopra could not contain his admiration. His breathtaking stroke play, which resulted in a boundary off Shoaib Bashir, mesmerized spectators and commentators.
The right-handed hitter had amassed 110 runs from 150 balls with 12 boundaries and five maximums before James Anderson dismissed him for his 699th Test wicket. India demonstrated their dominance by leading England by 255 runs at Stumps on Day 2 of the match, thanks in part to his valiant efforts. At the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala, Chopra praised the young batter, Gill, for his flair and gave him a great chance to succeed in the game of cricket.
“Shubman Gill’s batting style has convinced me that he possesses the genetic makeup of a great player. When it comes to batting, a lot of things matter. Being able to score runs is one thing, but understanding how to do it is another,” Chopra said to Colors Cineplex.
Chopra provides an overview of Shubman Gill’s path until his most current
Gill, who was struggling until the Rajkot Test, has now turned things around and is the second-highest run scorer in the current series. His comeback has been astounding, with 452 runs from nine innings at a very respectable average of 56.50. Batting third, he and captain Rohit Sharma (171 runs), who also scored a magnificent century, created an important combination. India eventually prevailed by an innings in the fifth Test, thanks in large part to his comeback and collaboration.
“It’s really simple—everyone needs to score runs to get here. If they hadn’t, you wouldn’t be here. To know when, how, and against whom you have the best chance of scoring runs, though, can often take a lifetime, Chopra continued.
