The Gujarat Titans captain Hardik Pandya was recently moved to his former team, the Mumbai Indians, in an all-cash transaction that is being hailed as the greatest trade in IPL history. This news comes just in time for the 17th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Following the formal announcement of the trade, it was revealed that great Indian batsman Shubman Gill will captain the Gujarat Titans for the 2019 IPL season. Pandya’s departure from Gujarat for Mumbai left the Titans without a captain.
Since his introduction to Gujarat, Shubman Gill has been a powerful player. The 24-year-old was the tournament’s leading run scorer in 2023 after an incredible showing, and he will be eager to repeat those feats in 2024.
Following the revelation that Gill would be heading the Gujarat Titans in 2024, former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra grabbed center stage and expressed his opinion that it was made obvious when Pandya left that Gill would take over as captain.
“The Gujarat Titans’ new captain is Shubman Gill. At the age of 23, a lot has occurred to him, which is amazing and fascinating. Aakash Chopra stated in a video posted on his YouTube channel, “It was practically a given that Shubman would take over as captain as soon as Hardik left.
Kane is a truly wonderful person. Aakash Chopra
Concerning Kane Williamson’s ability to succeed Pandya as the team’s captain, Aakash Chopra also expressed some curiosity. He added that Titans could learn from Kane’s days as Sunrisers Hyderabad captain, but ultimately the team decided that Gill was the best option.
There was a certain way of thinking about whether Kane Williamson ought to be named captain. You already serve as an example of Hyderabad. Kane is such a good guy; if he’s not feeling well, he drops himself,” Chopra remarked.
