Those in charge The first Test match between Pakistan and England began on October 7 at the Multan Cricket Stadium in Multan. After winning the toss, Pakistan chose to bat first on a level pitch. Shan Masood and Abdullah Shafique shared a 253-run partnership for the second wicket following the dismissal of opener Saim Ayub for a cheap price. With his fifth Test ton under his belt, Masood looked superb and took full advantage of the batter-friendly wicket.
With 13 boundaries and two maximums, he scored 151 from 177 balls. As he was doing it, he became the 17th skipper of Pakistan to reach a century in a Test. Masood has now been added to the esteemed list of Pakistani icons. Misbah-Ul-Haq, a former captain of Pakistan, is first on the list with eight three-figure scores. Inzamam-ul-Haq, a captain of Pakistan, is second with seven centuries.
Pakistan wants to win at home under Shan Masood
After the squad lost the Test series against Bangladesh 0–2 at home, Masood was not given much credit as captain. Meanwhile, doubts were raised about his batting prowess. Masood followed Babar Azam, one of the most sought-after batters in Pakistan. Hanif Mohammad and the former captain of Pakistan are tied for fourth place with the same number of tons as captain.
