India-C and India-B are facing off in the second round of the current Duleep Trophy 2024 at the Rural Development Trust Stadium B in Ananthapur. Abhimanyu Easwaran, the captain of India-B, won the toss and chose to field first thing in the morning. Ruturaj Gaikwad, the captain of India-C, started the innings with a hopeful boundary off the first delivery. However, Gaikwad’s innings was ended in the most peculiar way.
According to reports, he might have tried a rapid single and injured his ankle. Rajat Patidar arrived much sooner than expected at number three due to the abrupt departure.
Ruturaj Gaikwad had to be forced out of the game after just two balls due to injury.
Due to his struggles with injuries, Gaikwad has had to miss a lot of games. He had already had a finger injury during the previous ODI series, which prevented him from receiving his first red-ball call-up for the South Africa Tests. After the 2024 T20 World Cup, he led the Chennai Super Kings in the 2024 Indian Premier League and played in the Twenty20 International Series against Zimbabwe.
Ishan Kishan was a last-minute addition to the India C playing XI.
Ishan Kishan, a batsman and wicketkeeper, was an unexpected inclusion to the India-C playing eleven. Kishan, who is renowned for his forceful batting approach, apparently joined the team for practise sessions only a day before the game.

It is noteworthy that this match does not have the Decision Review System (DRS), in contrast to the previous round where it was available. With Patidar and Sai Sudharsan still at the crease and scores of 34 and 39, respectively, the team has made a solid start despite the return of India C’s captain to the dugout. After 20 overs, the team’s total stands at 81/0.
