Former Indian bowler RP Singh made some predictions recently on the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) retention plan, with the Indian Premier League (IPL) poised to host its 2025 season. Singh thinks that before the auction, RCB will release all of its players and keep just their star batsman, Virat Kohli.
Retention or the Right to Match (RTM) option would allow franchises to keep up to six players, with a maximum of five capped ones, according to player regulations recently released by the IPL Governing Council for the next three seasons. Singh discussed RCB’s possible strategy in advance of the huge auction.
“I don’t think they’re having any issues. All they’ll do is use the RTM, release everyone else, and keep Virat Kohli. He said to Colors Cineplex, “If we look at the value, using Rajat Patidar as an example, will we get him for more or less than 11 crores at the auction?”
I believe Rajat Patidar will be yours for less: RP Singh
Singh questioned if Rajat Patidar’s auction price would surpass 11 crores, citing the possibility that RCB could be able to repurchase him for less money. He doubted that Mohammed Siraj, the pacer, would fetch 14 crores at auction, using a same line of reasoning.
Singh emphasized how useful the RTM card is in these kinds of situations, enabling the Bengaluru-based team to match the highest offer and keep players if needed.
“I think Rajat Patidar will be yours for less money. That’s why you win him back at auction. You have the RTM, which you can utilize even if he gets close to 11 crores. You’ll need to assess Siraj’s performance once more to see whether you can get him anywhere near 11 crores. Siraj won’t likely make almost 14 crores, in my opinion. They will always have the choice to use the RTM if he gets there,” he continued.
The former bowler also shared his thoughts on the uncapped players for RCB, like as Rajan Kumar and Anuj Rawat, predicting that their auction values will probably fall short of four crores. Seeing how much Kohli has contributed to the team, the former Indian pacer made a solid case for building the squad around him.
“When discussing uncapped players, Anuj Rawat comes to mind. Rajan Kumar is a good left-arm pacer who was benched, but none of them will get close to four crores. Thus, they ought to adopt a fresh perspective. They are dependent on Virat because he is the most crucial player and has made significant contributions to the team.

Thus, they ought to consider assembling the team around him or coming up with a fresh idea. Other than Virat Kohli, I don’t think anyone else on this team is worth 18 or 14 crores,” Singh said.
