On Sunday, April 2, the Mumbai Indians (MI) faced off against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) to open the IPL 2023 season. Because of their subpar bowling performance, they lost to RCB by eight wickets to start the tournament off poorly. No bowler could really step in for Jasprit Bumrah, so it appeared that Mumbai missed his exploits. The 35-year-old also asked that other MI bowlers step up to fill the speedster’s spot. He responded to the defeat by saying that there was still lot to look forward to this season because it was only the first game.
Rohit Sharma, the captain of MI, acknowledged that he had gotten used to playing without Jasprit Bumrah over the past eight months.
“I have been accustomed to playing without Jasprit Bumrah during the past six to eight months. Naturally, this is a different scenario, but someone needs to raise their hand and take the lead. We can’t go on thinking about it. We have no control over injuries; therefore, we can’t really do much about them. The other men in the setup are also quite talented. We must provide them with that assistance. There is much to anticipate, and this is only the first game of the year, “said Rohit Sharma.
We were unable to truly apply any pressure. Bond, MI’s bowling coach
Shane Bond, the bowling coach for the Mumbai Indians, was unimpressed with the group’s bowling attack. He claimed that the bowlers gave the RCB openers too much width at the beginning of their innings. However, he acknowledged that the bowlers’ inability to exert any pressure on the RCB hitters lost them the victory.
We just provided too much breadth at the beginning of our inning, which caused us to be hit to both sides of the ball and, as I previously stated, prevented us from truly applying any pressure. We never really had a stretch of two overs where we felt like the game was getting tight, and it was certainly somewhat due to our bowling “explained Bond.
