Former India batsman Virender Sehwag commented on Mumbai Indians (MI) captain Rohit Sharma’s poor form in the current IPL 2023. Notably, the captain has not scored much in the last two matches, registering two consecutive blanks.
Prior to the anxiously anticipated match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Sehwag reflected on Rohit’s disappointing season and stated that his difficulties have been more mental than technical.
“Rohit Sharma is not in competition with the bowlers, but rather with himself. There is a mental impediment. There are no issues with his hitting technique. There is some confusion in his consciousness. The moment he starts going, however, we will make up for all of our previous losses,” Sehwag told Star Sports.
Rohit has scored a meager 184 runs at an unimpressive 18.40 average in 10 contests this season. During the match against archrivals CSK, he also registered his 16th defeat, which is the most in the history of the Premier League.
Imran Tahir lauds Virat Kohli’s dedication
In the same segment, former South African cricketer Imran Tahir heaped praise on the dedication and perseverance of RCB batsman Virat Kohli. Tahir stated that the ostentatious batter’s consistent desire to score runs over the past 15 years was admirable.
“Virat Kohli has always possessed a strong desire to collect runs. You can achieve maximum runs in one season, two seasons, or three seasons, but if you are able to do so for 15 consecutive seasons, it is because of your hard work and commitment. What Virat has accomplished over the past 15 years is truly admirable, as Tahir stated on Star Sports.
Despite garnering considerable criticism for his batting style, Kohli has amassed 419 runs at an average of 46.56, including six fifty-plus scores. On Tuesday, May 9, RCB and MI play a crucial match, the outcome of which will determine which team qualifies for the playoffs.
