Star Indian cricketers, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have experienced a significant drop in the latest ICC Test Rankings after their disappointing performances in the first Test against Bangladesh in Chennai. On the other hand, Rishabh Pant and Yashasvi Jaiswal, have witnessed notable gains.
Both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma found it difficult to have an impact at bat throughout the game at MA Chidambaram Stadium
Due to Hasan Mahmud’s bowling in the first innings, the Indian captain was only able to score in the single digits in both innings. Kohli scored just six runs in the first innings and 17 in the second, which was a very poor effort. Both players fell five spots in the rankings as a result of their performances; Sharma is now ranked 10th and Kohli is ranked 12th.
Rahmanullah Gurbaz of Afghanistan breaks into the ODI top ten for the first time
Despite the losses for the veterans, Jaiswal and Pant’s outstanding efforts helped India win the Test match by a commanding 280 runs. In difficult circumstances, Jaiswal’s outstanding 56 off 118 balls was vital in stabilising India’s first innings during a top-order collapse. He went up to sixth place in the Test rankings with this knock.
After a two-year hiatus, Pant returned to Test cricket and made an instant impression. Although his 39 in the first innings was noteworthy, the conversation of the day was around his sixth Test century in the second.
