Ishan Kishan made a remarkable comeback after being left out of the BCCI’s central contract earlier this year. The southpaw was ousted due to his unavailability for the domestic season. However, the wicketkeeper-batter notched up tons in Buchi Babu’s pre-season tournament and recently concluded Duleep Trophy.
A number of publications claimed that he would play in the forthcoming Twenty20 International series against Bangladesh, given the growing discussion about his possible return to form for India. Furthermore, the upcoming Test series against New Zealand can provide a much-needed opportunity. Rishabh Pant may be rested for the Bangladesh T20I series, which would allow room for other wicketkeeper-batters, according to sources from HT.
Sanju Samson is India’s backup wicketkeeper in Pant’s absence because the latter had flown to the West Indies for the T20 World Cup 2024. Other than Pant, Dhruv Jurel is the primary pick for Tests, and Ishan is left out of the starting XI. These scenarios prevent the 26-year-old from possibly being included in the starting lineup for the next games.
