This week at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, during India A vs. India B for the Duleep Trophy 2024, Rishabh Pant struck into a conversation with a fan watching from a distance.
Day 2’s morning session saw Pant, who plays for India B, strolling around the boundary ropes with a colleague as a spectator attempted to get his attention and share how much he liked the flashy wicketkeeper-batter. Seeing Pant have a sweet conversation with a fan was fantastic.
Here’s how Pant and his fan interacted:
“Fan – Rishabh bhai
Pant – Haa bhai?
Fan – I love you x 2
Pant – Love you too
Fan – Love u too!”
Day 4’s last session saw India B win by 76 runs, earning them a vital six points from the first game. In the match, Rishabh Pant was crucial because he occasionally gave bowlers guidance and gave captain Abhimanyu Easwaran insightful counsel, particularly when it came to DRS calls. In the game, he caught seven balls—two in the opening inning and five in the second.
Rishabh Pant struck a scorching fifty to help India B establish a challenging mark to surpass.
The 26-year-old didn’t have a stellar first-inning performance at the bat, as Akash Deep dismissed him for just seven runs off of ten balls. But in the second innings, the left-handed hitter produced his signature style of play, scoring a half-century off of just 34 balls. He smacked two sixes and nine fours during his 61-run innings, which came off just 47 balls. As India B’s leading scorer in the second innings, Pant contributed to his team’s ability to set a difficult goal for India A to meet in the fourth innings: 275.
The bowlers from India B were outstanding with the ball as they dismissed their A teammates for 198 runs. With a 121-ball 57 to top score for India A, KL Rahul was unable to adapt to the difficult surface and the disciplined seam bowling. India B’s best bowler was Yash Dayal, who finished with statistics of 3/50 from 12 overs.
