The lineup for India’s upcoming series against Australia includes veteran Indian all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin. It should be noted that India will play Australia in a three-match One-Day International series starting on Friday, September 22.
Ravichandran Ashwin was observed practicing in the nets with the white ball at the NCA (National Cricket Academy) in Bangalore as the series draws near. Before he hits the field for India to face Australia, he is also set to play a 50-over game.
In Chennai, Ravichandran Ashwin will participate in a 50-over match for the VAP Trophy. The 37-year-old will participate in the match against Young Stars for Take Solution MRPA.
An official from the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) spoke up regarding Ravichandran Ashwin playing in the match prior to the match. Ashwin wants to spend some time on the field, the official said.
“A 50-over game will give him the chance to spend some time on the ground, which is what he wants to do. He recently paid a visit to the NCA to get basic maintenance performed on his body and to work on his spin bowling technique with the help of coach Sairaj Bahutule. He’s determined to thoroughly get ready for any obstacles that may come his way, the TNCA official was cited as saying by Cricbuzz.
Notably, Ravichandran Ashwin has only participated in two ODIs in the previous six years; the 50-over encounter in Chennai may allow him to regain his mojo before India and Australia square off in a three-match ODI series.
The Indian team has been notified that on September 20, they would assemble in Chandigarh before traveling to Mohali for the first ODI. On September 22, India and Australia square off at the Inderjit Singh Bindra Stadium.
It is also important to note that on October 8, India and Australia will face off in Chennai at the MA Chidambaram Stadium to open their ODI World Cup campaigns.
