The International Cricket Council (ICC) contests have been difficult for Team India since they won the 2013 Champions Trophy. In addition to losing the finals of the 2014 T20 World Cup and the 2017 Champions Trophy, India also lost the semi-finals of the 2015 and 2019 ODI World Cups. India lost to England in the 2022 T20 World Cup semifinals, and in the June 2023 World Test Championship (WTC) final, they were humiliated by Australia.
Heading into the eagerly anticipated Cricket World Cup at home in October-November, India is seeking to end its title drought in ICC competitions. Rashid Latif, a former Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter, spoke up about the difficulties team India has had in ICC tournaments prior to the main event.
He also made reference to Virat Kohli’s dismissal as captain and said that the team had dealt with “internal issues,” presumably.”Virat Kohli had a plan and wanted to succeed, but he was fired. Due to internal problems, the crew was unable to perform. They failed to compete well in ICC competitions, perhaps as a result of the captain not getting the right players. Latif said on his YouTube account, “Or maybe he acquired them, but they weren’t used.
Their problem is that top 3 isn’t functioning as well as it once did, says Rashid Latif
Sri Lanka and Pakistan will host the Asia Cup in 2023, which will take place before the ODI World Cup. Latif continued by stating that Team India has a respectable roster and that their top order will be their main focus.
The World Cup here and the Asia Cup in Sri Lanka are currently the two major events. Their team is still rather strong, thus they will receive a 4. When the top three are swiftly dropped, trouble starts. The top three will easily win if they bat out the 25–30 overs. The top-3’s poor performance is their problem. Shikhar Dhawan may have been rehired; you had appointed him captain during a tour less than a year prior. You had players, and you dispersed them all over the place,” the 54-year-old continued.
