Anil Kumble, a former captain of India, praised Rachin Ravindra, a young batsman from New Zealand, saying that he performs like Yuvraj Singh. On October 5 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Ravindra struck a superb 96-ball 123 in his first World Cup encounter against England as the Kiwis went on to win by nine wickets.
Kumble remarked that his debut game in the main event featured a remarkable inning. Additionally, the 52-year-old claimed that the child did make him think of a young Yuvraj in his prime. Kumble also praised Rachin Ravindra for his beautiful and graceful knock.
“When he began the batting in the exhibition game (against Pakistan), we saw what he is capable of. In his flow, he resembles Yuvraj Singh somewhat, a younger Yuvraj Singh. Very classy. So fantastic,” Kumble said to ESPNcricinfo.
However, backing the way he did in his World Cup debut against the reigning champs was really noteworthy. This was the first Rachin Ravindra treat I had received.
In the World Cup opener, New Zealand defeated England by nine wickets.
Tom Latham, the acting captain of New Zealand, called the toss and asked England to bat first. With Joe Root scoring 77 off 86 deliveries, New Zealand held England to 282 in 50 overs thanks in large part to Matt Henry’s three-wicket haul.
In just 36.2 overs, New Zealand successfully defended the target in a stunning exhibition of batting prowess. Devon Conway and Ravindra led the Kiwis’ innings despite opener Will Young being out for a golden duck; their unbroken 273-run stand was the fourth-highest World Cup partnership.
Conway needed just 83 balls to score the tournament’s first century. The seasoned opener scored 152* off 121 balls, including three maximums and 19 boundaries. On the other side, Ravindra outperformed himself against England and ended up winning Player of the Match.
