An emotional rollercoaster characterised the match between the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the ongoing IPL 2024. Preity Zinta’s endearing response to MS Dhoni’s golden duck in the penultimate over of the innings went viral, even though CSK easily defeated them by 28 runs to boost their chances of making the playoffs.
As the audience favourite was removed off the first ball of the innings, the Bollywood star, who co-owns PBKS, was ecstatic. In the 19th over, the five-time champions were batting at 150/7 after being allowed to bat first. At 9 in the morning, CSK put Dhoni to bat, where he faced the final 8 deliveries of the inning.
The bowler Harshal Patel, who had dismissed Shardul Thakur in the previous delivery, produced a breathtaking delivery in the final ball of his four-over quota, using a sinking slower ball to castle Dhoni’s stumps. When the stumper- battery was removed, the cameras zoomed across to an overjoyed Preity Zinta among the spectators. The actress couldn’t contain her excitement as she praised Harshal’s outstanding wicket and smiled broadly.

Unfortunately, Sam Curran’s dream was dashed.
The game’s outcome was not considerably impacted by Dhoni’s golden duck. An outstanding all-around performance (43 runs and three wickets) by Ravindra Jadeja laid the stage for Chennai’s victory. Despite a valiant thirty from Prabhsimran Singh and a twenty-seven from Shashank Singh, their methodical bowling restricted Punjab to 139/9.

“I thought our bowling was good. Unfortunately, it wasn’t to be despite Rahul Chahar and Harshal bowling well and looking good at the halfway point. We need to move on and maintain our composure since we have a few days off before playing the RCB in a few days, PBKS stand-in captain Sam Curran stated following the game.
With four victories under their belt, the Punjab-based team is currently ranked eighth in the points table, while the reigning champions have now climbed up to the third spot with 12 points.
