On Saturday, October 14, in the 12th game of the current ODI World Cup 2023, India and Pakistan will face off at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, reigniting their long-standing rivalry. The ‘Men in Blue’ started their run in the championship match with a crushing victory over Australia at Chepauk, Chennai, by a margin of six wickets. The previous five-time winners were dismissed for 199 as a result of three wickets taken by Ravindra Jadeja, who also performed a stellar performance with the bat.

In response, India was in trouble at 2/3, but the partnership of Virat Kohli and KL Rahul managed to weather the storm and bring India close to the finish line.
The previous captain of India was out for 85, but Rahul continued to bat undefeated at 97 and, along with Hardik Pandya, helped India start the campaign off on the right foot. They played Afghanistan in Delhi for their second game. The ‘Blue Tigers’ scored 272/8 after deciding to bat first, with Jasprit Bumrah taking four wickets.
Virat Kohli was undefeated at 55 as the former two-time champions won the game with 15 overs and eight wickets remaining thanks in large part to skipper Rohit Sharma’s ruthless destruction of the Afghan bowling on route to a brilliant century. The team of Babar Azam has also recorded two victories in as many games so far in the ODI World Cup 2023. They had a shaky batting debut against the Netherlands but ultimately prevailed by 81 runs after scoring 286. Half-centuries were hit by Mohammad Rizwan and Saud Shakeel, and Haris Rauf was the best bowler with figures of 3/43 in nine overs.
The ‘Men in Green’s’ next opponent was Sri Lanka. Kusal Mendis and Sadeera Samarawickrama both scored hundreds to help Dasun Shanaka’s team achieve a massive total of 344/9 in 50 overs. In response, Pakistan lost two wickets in the first eight overs, but with 10 balls and six wickets remaining, youthful Abdullah Shafique and the hotly tipped Mohammad Rizwan both struck centuries to enable Pakistan chase down the biggest total in World Cup history.
Both clubs will begin the game hoping to continue their winning streak because they both have their form and confidence on their side. But in the battle of the cricketing titans, only one will triumph.
