At Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka will play in the 38th match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. While Sri Lanka is determined to bolster their claim for a semi-final position, Bangladesh, who are already out from the competition, approach the encounter with fearlessness. With only one victory over Afghanistan and six straight losses, Bangladesh’s World Cup experience has been everything but perfect. In a same vein, only two of Sri Lanka’s seven games have ended in victories. Nonetheless, obtaining a straight qualification berth for the 2025 Champions Trophy is a shared goal for both teams. Their goal is to be in the top eight in the competition because of this extra incentive. Bangladesh took the toss, chose to field first at Delhli, and made a significant change by substituting Tanzim Sakib for the formidable Mustafizur Rahman because of his injury worries. However, Sri Lanka made two notable changes to their team. Kusal Mendis made the decision to replace Dimuth Karunaratne and Dushan Hemantha with Kusal Perera and Dhananjaya De Silva. The two have been playing poorly lately, especially against India, which is more indicative of the changes.
How did the captains announce the toss?
It appears to be a really decent surface, so we would field first. During our practise, there was an abundance of dew. There are high expectations, which we were unable to meet. We would hope to perform well in our remaining two games. Both technical proficiency and mental toughness are requirements. We have one change: Tanzim Sakib replaces Mustafizur Rahman since he isn’t physically well enough, Shakib stated.
“I don’t mind batting first, looks like a good wicket,” Kusal Mendis remarked. On this pitch, we want to score well—I believe 300 or higher would be ideal. Two adjustments are made. Karunaratne and Hemantha leave, and Dhananjaya and Kusal Perera enter.
