In the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have found a hidden gem in all-rounder Nitish Reddy. The all-rounder has been instrumental in batting lower on the order and contributing with the ball during critical moments of the match. With a strike rate of 142.92 and an average of 33.67, Nitish scored 303 runs at a bowling average of 2 wickets in a short amount of time. The 21-year-old, who won the IPL 2024 award for Emerging Player of the Season, has opened up about his father’s difficulties and his happiness after the tournament.
When Nitish was barely eight years old, his father in Rajasthan resigned from his position with the government so that he could spend more time watching his son play cricket. Additionally, the family relocated to Andhra Pradesh during Nitish’s cricket career, where he played for the state team and eventually made it to the SRH camp. The right-handed batsman further disclosed that following IPL 2024, things changed drastically and his father received backlash.
“It will take me two to three hours to give that entire story. To put it briefly, though, he quit his work on my behalf. I had just begun my profession and in a few weeks will be attending the school. He answered the call to stay at that point. He was relocated to Rajasthan and was required to remain there. People asked Nitish, cited by News18, “How will he manage everything here if he goes to Rajasthan?”

Thus, my father made the choice to remain here and continue collaborating with me. His duty has been to look after me ever since that day. He still does it, in fact. I’m overjoyed to be making him proud and to be making some progress in my game. This is the most a son could have asked for from his father,” he continued.
SRH shown trust in inexperience. Nitish Reddy
Nitish’s 2023 IPL season was forgettable as his side, SRH, was eliminated from the competition in the league round, and after appearing in just two games, there were doubts about his future. After that, he sustained an injury that prevented him from winning the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, and he lost control of the situation. But by keeping him, SRH demonstrated their faith in him, and the rest is history.
