In the brief history of T20 cricket, the Multan Sultan are about to recruit a female general manager, making them the first franchise to do so. In place of Haider Azhar, journalist Hijab Zahid will fill the position. Notably, she was employed at the entry level and is now poised to obtain a promotion to the executive level.
The ownership of Multan Sultans, the 2021 Pakistan Super League champions, will change in the following season due to Alamgir Tareen’s passing last month. Ali Tareen, who was a co-owner of the business until 2021, will take over as his replacement.
She is expected to join Zahid and become the competition’s youngest general manager ever. The 28-year-old, who formerly worked as media manager for Islamabad United, holds a master’s degree in project management from the University of Hertfordshire, according to cricketmood.
Since Zahid described her as the most qualified general manager among all the other teams, Tareen is therefore overjoyed by her arrival. Hijab was praised by the man, who said that she is very talented and that he had no doubts about hiring her in the first place.
“Among all PSL teams, the general manager with the best credentials. The first person that came to mind was Hijab. She was the first person Tareen mentioned. “I felt she was much more capable than what her current position required of her.
It only took a moment to consider it: Zahid
Hijab Zahid said she was very confident after receiving the offer and is aware of the difficulties playing as a woman on a men’s squad. She anticipates having a lot of seminars and discussions with players to describe the role she will play.
“I only needed to consider it for a little period of time. Being an authority figure as a woman is far more difficult. It is socially more challenging for men to follow instructions from a woman. Because of the power dynamics in this profession, there are people who have never interacted with women in their life. Therefore, I anticipate that there will be a lot of discussions and workshops regarding having a woman in a management position here,” Zahid said.
