Tushar Deshpande, a pacer, and Shivam Dube, a hitter, have told what MS Dhoni said in the dressing room after the Chennai Super Kings won the IPL 2023. Notably, MS Dhoni and his team beat the Gujarat Titans, which were led by Hardik Pandya, in the final, which was cut short because of rain at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad at midnight on May 30.
Dube, who scored 32 runs without being out in the final, said that MS Dhoni helped him think more clearly and told him to speed up his run rate. The 29-year-old also said that Dhoni told him to try to finish his work even if he got out of work early.
“Mahi Bhai helped me get my thoughts straight. He told me what I’m supposed to do. It was simple: tujhe jaa kar team ka run rate badhana hai. (You need to speed up the rate.). Even if I get out of work early, it’s fine, but I’ll try to finish the task I was set. “The instructions were clear,” Dube told The Indian Express in an interview.
MS Dhoni gave players confidence, which is what they want: Tushar Deshpande
Deshpande also said that the CSK leader stood by him even though he gave up 56 runs in the final match. He said that Dhoni told him that a score of 200 or more is the new average under the new Impact Player rule. Notably, the Maharashtra bowler finished his IPL 2023 season with 21 wickets, making him CSK’s top wicket-taker.
“Once, I didn’t bowl very well, and he told me that with the new impact rule, scores of 200 or more are the new standard, so I shouldn’t worry about where I was. “He gave the certainty that young players want,” Deshpande said.
Deshpande remembered what the former India captain told the CSK players and added that their hard work had paid off, but they should remember what they did right and what they did wrong this year.
“He told everyone that hard work pays off, but don’t forget what we did right and what we did wrong this year. “Mahi bhai asked me, ‘What has this season taught you, and what should you do next?'” said the 28-year-old.
