The Australian Big Bash League 2023–24 is under way, and fans have already seen five thrilling games thus far this season. Big Bash is renowned for its star-studded commentary team, which includes Ricky Ponting, Mark Howard, and Damien Fleming, among others, in addition to the amazing cricket action on the field.
One of the biggest voices in world cricket, former India player turned pundit Ravi Shastri, has joined the league’s official broadcaster, Kayo Sports, for the 13th season of the T20 spectacular, which is now in progress. The 1983 World Cup champion debuted as a Big Bash commentator on Monday, December 11 at the North Tasmania Cricket Association Ground in Launceston during the Hobart Hurricanes and Sydney Sixers’ fifth game of the competition.
Mark Howard, Shastri’s co-commentator, greeted him warmly and called him “one of the biggest broadcast names on the planet.” However, Aaron Finch, who was also there in the commentary box, referred to him as the “voice of cricket” and the “king of commentary.”

Ravi Shastri is perhaps one of the most well-known voices in international cricket, having contributed to some of the greatest moments in Indian cricket history, including Yuvraj Singh’s six sixes, India’s victories in the World Cup in 2007 and 2011, among many other events. With Shastri on the commentary panel, BBL will probably draw in more Indian viewers who are drawn to his upbeat voice.
The Sydney Sixers won their second straight game in the current campaign.
Returning to the game, the Hobart Hurricanes scored 135/8 in their 20 overs after being sent to bat first. Caleb Jewell led Hobart in scoring with a knock of 42 (24). Conversely, with statistics of 3/19 in four overs, Tom Curran was Sydney’s best bowler.
Sydney responded by chasing the goal in 19.2 overs, led by an outstanding innings of 60* (50). Sydney went on to win the match by a margin of six wickets, their second straight victory of the year. With two victories from two games, the team captained by Moises Henriques rose to the top of the standings.
