Michael Hussey, a former Australian cricketer and current batting coach for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), praised Ruturaj Gaikwad’s batting skills, saying that he makes the bowlers’ jobs very hard. The CSK opener has been very important in both of their Indian Premier League games so far (IPL). The 26-year-old batter scored 92 and 57 runs against the Gujarat Titans (GT) and the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). He is currently at the top of the run charts for the IPL 2023 Orange Cap.
Michael Hussey, who has been working with Gaikwad for a few years, praised Ruturaj’s batting skills and pointed out how much he has improved since joining the team. The Aussie said that he likes Ruturaj’s game and the way he plays. He also said that the opener makes it hard for the bowlers to do their jobs because he can easily hit good balls for fours or sixes.
“It’s been amazing to see how far he’s come since he first came to CSK. Hussey told reporters, “I love his game and how he plays it.”
“He doesn’t try to become a big logger or anything. He has a well-rounded cricket game and is slowly getting more powerful. Bowlers have a hard time bowling to him because he can also hit good balls for fours or sixes, he said.
Ruturaj Gaikwad can definitely play at an international level. Michael Hussey
Even though Gaikwad hasn’t done well for India in the shortest format, the Australian thinks that Gaikwad is good enough to represent India internationally. The 47-year-old also said that the next time he gets the chance to play for Team India, he will have learned from his mistakes and use those skills.
“There’s no doubt that Ruturaj can play at an international level. He is a very self-aware player who knows a lot about his skills and what he needs to work on. Hussey said, “I think that the next time he gets a chance to play for India, he will have learned from his past mistakes and will use those lessons to help him do well.”
Gaikwad played a big role in the 2021 IPL season, when CSK won for the fourth time. In 2021, he led the team in runs with 635, and he eventually won the Orange Cap. In the 2022 IPL, he only scored 368 runs in 14 games, and the four-time winners were second from the bottom in terms of points.
