The talented all-rounder, Annabel Sutherland, was acquired by the Delhi Capitals for Rs 2 crore at the WPL Season 2 auctions in December. The Australian provides strength to the team that placed second in 2023. Abhinav Mukund and Saba Karim, two JioCinema and Sports18 WPL analysts, evaluated DC’s chances for the next campaign. Take a peek:
The Delhi Capitals are a good team, according to Abhinav Mukund. They have Meg Lanning, who is perhaps the best international cricket player, and two of the most promising young Indian players, Shafali Verma and Jemimah Rodrigues. Next up are Alice Capsey and Marizanne Kapp. Now throw in Annabel Sutherland. Their bowlers are all playing well. Jess Jonassen is doing great, but she might have to miss several games. Thus, it all depends on how well they blend in.
It could also be related to Meg Lanning’s exceptional leadership abilities.
My only wish is that Lanning returns to the Delhi Capitals in a mentally sound state. She recently went on a personal hiatus. She is now in Sutherland with an all-arounder, which is what she desired.
Attempting to determine Saba Karim‘s replacement in order to make room for Sutherland in the starting lineup
Saba Karim: “This time, the DC team is more formidable.” Usually, they search for their side’s equilibrium. However, they launched a bidding war for Annabel Sutherland this time around and were prepared with a well-thought-out plan. I’m trying to figure out who they’ll bench for Sutherland in the starting lineup. She’s young and full of talent. Nonetheless, DC believes Sutherland will succeed given the playing conditions during the contests. DC is expected to be a formidable opponent and was unfortunate not to make it past the penultimate hurdle.
