So, that's it from this one-off Test. Bangladesh have prevailed over the visitors and now the action switches to white ball cricket. Now, Bangladesh take on Zimbabwe in the 1st of the 3-match ODI series which begins on 1st March 2020 at 1300 local (0700 GMT). Till then take care and cheers!!!
Bangladesh skipper, Mominul Haque says that sometimes as a captain we have to adjust with the difficulty start to the career. He further says that the guys played well as a team. He praises Nayeem Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim and Najmul Hasan for their efforts. He adds that he is happy to score some runs and contribute to the teams cause. He ends by saying that the boys are eager to play some white ball cricket and hopes that they win there too.
For his brilliant unbeaten knock of 203 runs Mushfiqur Rahim is adjudged as the Man Of The Match. He says that they badly needed a win as they lost the last 6 matches they played previously. He praises Najmul Hasan Shanto for playing brilliantly. He further says that he was lucky to make it big and get to a double ton. He mentions that they played well in all the three departments. Further says that he hopes to repeat this performace in coming games.
Zimbabwe skipper, Craig Ervine says that it was nice to get runs but he says that he looks to take the positives from this game. He also says that they got starts but failed to convert them. Further says that the bowlers did not hit the right lines and lengths as compared to their Bangladesh counterparts who made them work hard for the runs. He also says that they work hard to gain the momentum but throw it away by poor shot selection.
In the end, poor batting, poor bowling and poor fielding resulted them ending on a losing side and that too getting humiliated with an innings loss. Stay tuned for the presentations...
As far Bangladesh's batting is concerned Saif Hassan departed cheaply but a 78-run stand between the experienced Tamim Iqbal and Najmul Hasan Shanto revived their innings. Tamim departed in the 40's and then Najmul Hasan Shanto followed him after a well compiled 71 runs. Then came a marathon partnership of 222 runs between Mushfiqur Rahim and Mominul Haque. The duo reached to their respective tons too. The latter though departed but the former reached to his double ton. In the end, Bangladesh ended up gaining a massive 295-run lead. Talking of the Zimbabwe bowlers they were poor in their approach. Dishing out freebies and that just did not do justice to them as they struggled to take wickets regularly.
Coming to the match, Zimbabwe won the toss and chose to bat. They put on 265 in the first innings courtesy a 111-run stand between skipper Craig Ervine and Prince Masvuare. Masvaure though was dismissed in the 60's but Ervine continued to play his game and eventually got to his 3rd Test ton. His departure soon opened the floodgates. For Bangladesh, Nayeem Hasan and Abu Jayed both took 4 wickets apiece to restrict Zimbabwe under 270.
Soon after the Lunch break, Zimbabwe lost Sikandar Raza who was batting well on 47 but a brilliant effort in the field from Mushfiqur Rahim saw him heading back to the pavilion. After that it was just a matter of time as till when can Zimbabwe avoid the inevitable. Timycen Maruma played fearlessly as he made 41 but lacked support at the other end. Once Maruma got dismissed the game was over there and then. Nayeem Hasan was the chief destroyer as he took 5 wickets in this innings and was ably supported by Taijul Islam who also took 4 wickets.
A thumping win for the Bangla Tigers. They have broken their 6-match losing streak in the longest format. They were brilliant and clinical in their approach. 9 wickets taken by spinners tells the story in itself. Bangladesh began the day superbly by strangling the run flow and picking a couple of quick wickets early on before a 60-run stand between Sikandar Raza and Craig Ervine revived slightest of hope for the visitors. But Skipper, Ervine's wicket at the stroke of Lunch snatched away all the momentum they had got.

After that Bangladesh's bowling looked a bit haywire as runs started to flow when Craig Ervine and Sikandar Raza were in the middle. The duo added 60 for the 5th wicket but Ervine had to take the long walk back just before the Lunch Break courtesy of his Bangladesh counterpart's brilliant direct hit. Zimbabwe still trail by 181 runs and have just 5 wickets in their bag. Bangladesh earlier on Day 3 batted brilliantly when former captain, Mushfiqur Rahim and current captain, Mominul Haque both batted in tandem to push Zimbabwe out of the game by amassing a lead of 295 runs. The duo stitched a 222-run stand and reached their respective tons too. Though the latter failed to continue, the former went onto score a double ton, his 3rd in this format. The visitors started on a bad note as they lost 2 quick wickets before the close of play. The hosts today would look to take the remaining wickets quickly and wrap up the Test match. What to speak of Zimbabwe, they needed to bat out just 5 overs but failed to do that miserably. They lost the wicket of Prince Masvaure and the nightwatchman, Donald Tiripano in the first over. Zimbabwe, on the other hand, would feel slightly better with the two wickets that they managed to pick up in this session but they would know that they are way behind in this game and they need to pick the remaining wickets quickly if they do not want Bangladesh to run away with the game, if that has not happened already. Ainsley Ndlovu was the pick of the bowlers scalping two wickets but the others were disappointing.
A better session for Zimbabwe but Bangladesh still hold the cards in this Test match. Rahim and Mominul started the session positively and were going good till Ndlovu removed the Bangladesh skipper with a terrific return catch. Then Mithun looked good for his short stint but Ndlovu struck to remove them but since then Das and Rahim have played out the remaining overs with ease, with the latter looking set to reach his 150. Bangladesh batted superbly on Day 2 to get the deficit down to just 25 runs and the three 50-plus stands for the hosts deflated the visitors. Skipper Mominul Haque is still out there and he has Mushfiqur Rahim for company. Both these batsmen will first look to wipe out the deficit without any further damage and then would want to bat long to push Zimbabwe out of the game. The visitors were decent with the ball the other day but were deprived of wickets on a regular basis. A fresh day to begin with and they would want to take quick wickets to dry up the run flow. Earlier in the day, Bangladesh bowlers took just over an hour to wrap things up in the morning, with Abu Jayed and Nayeem Hasan taking 4 wickets apiece. Both bowled really well, with Jayed moving the ball in the air while Nayeem making it spin off the deck.
A near perfect batting day for Bangladesh. Yes, 3 batsmen in the top 4 wasted their starts but it can also be viewed as 4 batsmen in the top 5 crossed the 30-mark and faced more than 50 balls. They spent time in the middle and then started to accumulate runs quickly.
Not a great outing with the ball for the visitors. They started well, got the early wicket but then were subjected to 3 successive 50-plus stands. There was barely any movement or swing for the seamers while the spinners struggled for turn. A quality spinner is being missed, which can be seen by the fact that Sikandar Raza had to bowl 22 overs.
120/1 in 33 overs in that final session. Bangladesh have really pressed it in, pushing Zimbabwe on the mat. The first two sessions did feel as if Zimbabwe did have some sort of a chance if quick wickets fell but the Mominul-Rahim stand has almost shut the door.

Excellent self-belief and discipline from Bangladesh. At no point did they get frustrated, believing that the wicket will come at some point of time or the other and eventually, the dismissals did come. Everyone bowled well but Abu Jayed and Nayeem Hasan hogged the limelight with 4 wickets apiece. The bowlers will now hope to put their feet for at least 2 days in the pavilion.
Not the best bit of batting efforts from Zimbabwe. They started solidly, being 118/1 but then the middle order could not quite capitalize. Only three batsmen reached 30, which is never enough in Test cricket. On a slow deck, a minimum of 300 is necessary. They have fallen at least 40-50 runs short.
A bit of frustration for the home side but it eventually gets the work done. It has been hard work, they have toiled hard but ensured that not too many runs have been scored on this deck. The bowling has been excellent, keeping things tight.

Bangladesh's bowling was superb with both the opening bowlers being spot on. They beat the bat of the Zimbabwean batsmen frequently and Abu Jayed got into the wickets column. Since the introduction of spinners, the runs have started to leak. Will Bangladesh strike after the break or will Zimbabwe continue to grind it out in the middle? A good session of Test match cricket. It started slowly and then picked up pace. Zimbabwe won the toss and elected to bat first on a wicket which had an even covering of grass. The two openers Prince Masvaure and Kevin Kasuza started watchfully as they played out the opening bowlers by defending anything which was in line with the stumps. They picked up pace gradually and started scoring briskly. In the process they lost Kasuza to Abu Jayed but since then, skipper Craig Ervine and Prince Masvaure have steadied the ship with a gritty stand of 73 runs. Both the batsmen were severe on the spinners as they swept and reverse swept them constantly.

Bangladesh skipper, Mominul Haque says that they would have batted first as well. He adds that the first innings will be crucial and they would look to restrict Zimbabwe early on. Further says that there is something in the wicket for the spinners.
Zimbabwe skipper, Craig Ervine says that they will bat first. He adds that there is a lot of green grass and the first session will be crucial. He also mentions that it looks a pretty decent wicket and everything will depend on how the first session pans out for them.

Hello and a warm welcome to the one-off Test between Bangladesh and Zimbabwe in Mirpur. The hosts experienced a tough time in Pakistan and would like to start afresh at home. On the other hand, Zimbabwe showed great heart in their last Test match against Sri Lanka back home and would like to make the most of this exposure of playing a Test match in Asian conditions. Without doubt, Bangladesh will be the favourites but they cannot afford to take the African minnows lightly.
