Trinbago Knight Riders beat Barbados Royals by 6 wickets

Right then. That's it from the coverage of this game. Trinbago Knight Riders have got their first points of this season and would be eager to build a new streak. The CPL action continues on 28th August, 2021. It sees a contest between Guyana Amazon Warriors and St Kitts and Nevis Patriots at 1000 local (1400 GMT). Cheers!
Kieron Pollard, Trinbago Knight Riders captain, is up for a chat. He says it was not a good start for them yesterday, even today they did not start well but this is T20, the games swings from one end to the other. Mentions they will continue to improve and says they are just getting in the groove. He praises Udana for his 5-fer. Adds that batting slow for a couple of overs was the plan, he stayed patient and got into the attack when they got an opportunity. Also says, Denesh Ramdin played a crucial role alongside him to get the team over the line.
Jason Holder, Barbados Royals captain, says that they were few runs short but their opposition bowled well. Adds that guys must take responsibility in the middle as the games keep coming thick and fast. Says that they backed their fast bowlers as this ground was too tiny for Pollard to clear and both him and Ramdin are good players of spin. Signs off by saying that that they are looking forward to the next game.
Isuru Udana has been adjudged as the Man of the Match, for his brilliant 5-fer. He says that he is really happy as this his first season and first five-wicket haul. Adds that change of pace is important on these sort of wickets and he is really happy with his bowling.
Trinbago Knight Riders would be happy that they are back to winning ways. They did not have the best of starts to their innings as they lost three wickets inside the Powerplay. Captain Kieron Pollard and the veteran Denesh Ramdin had their task cut out and they stitched together an unbeaten partnership of 87 runs which saw them through. They started with singles and doubles initially, but once they got their eye in, they started to free their arms and scored freely. Pollard also got to his fifty in the process which came off just 29 balls.
Barbados Royals could not capitalize on the advantage! Barbados Royals would be a bit disappointed with their bowling effort in the last 10 overs. Defending a low total of 122, they started pretty well with the ball by picking up early wickets but could not maintain the same pressure on the Knight Riders's batters in the latter half of the innings. Mohammad Amir was exceptional with the ball as he picked up 3 wickets inside the Powerplay and put Trinbago Knight Riders in a spot of bother. Oshane Thomas also bowled well and asked the right questions to the batters. The other bowlers failed to maintain the same kind of pressure and in the end they lost the grip on the match.
A thumping victory for Trinbago Knight Riders. Thanks to their skipper, Kieron Pollard who led from the front and made sure his team is back to winning ways in this competition.
