Melbourne Stars beat Sydney Thunder by 6 wickets

Right then! That is all we have from this game. On Monday, 13th December, Melbourne Renegades will take on Brisbane Heat in an epic game. Make sure that you join us for that action at 6:15 pm local (8:15 am GMT) for the same. Cheers!
Andre Russell is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH! Rusell says that he was here for a few days before the start and did some training. Adds that it was good to be out there. Says that he just backed himself and with a positive start it was a good night. Tells that big hugs are coming up and will enjoy it.
The bowling was really good to begin with! Early wickets is what Sydney Thunder needed and they did get two of them. However, that dropped catch of Maxwell cost them dearly as it was from then Maxwell got going. The bowlers then found it difficult to put a hold on the scoring. Sangha though did get them back with two wickets in the over but did not receive support from the other end. However, the Thunder just did not have enough on the board, had they scored 170, the story might have well been different.
It was all about a couple of partnerships for the Stars and they got that. First in the form of Maxwell and Stoinis who added 59 runs together in quick time after they lost two wickets early. Maxwell was the aggressor and Stoinis was happy to give the strike over to him. Thunder though got themselves back into the game when they got two in two but Russell and Cartwright put up another brilliant partnership with both striking it big to take their side over the line.
What a thumping win in the end for Melbourne Stars! What carnage from Russell, sublime stuff from the man from the Windies. He came in at a tricky situation but took the game by the scruff and has taken his team over the line with a blitzkrieg. He has surely announced his arrival.

SIX! A length ball, outside off. Russell smashes it to deep mid-wicket, it almost looked like will go all the way but Sams catches it there. His momentum is taking him over so he flicks it back to Green who is standing across. There is drama as the fielder throws it back to the bowler who tries to clip the bails off but the umpire tells him to wait. The third umpire is called to check the boundary and after many replays, the big board shows NOT OUT and it is been given as a six. The replays showed that Sams stepped on the ropes.
Is that a catch? It looks like the fielder has stepped on the rope while trying to flick the ball back to one of his teammates. It will be a SIX!
