Adelaide Strikers beat Melbourne Stars by 23 runs

Right then. That is all we have from this game but we have another clash coming up on this double-header Saturday. We now move to Sydney for the derby. Sydney Sixers will take on Sydney Thunder at 1:10 pm IST (7:40 am GMT) but our buildup begins earlier. Do join us for that. See you there!
It is no surprise that Henry Thornton is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for figures of 4-0-22-4. He says that they are peaking well at the right moment. He adds that he wanted this opportunity for the last three years and is happy to get an opportunity and perform. He adds that Hilton Cartwright was going well and that his wicket was crucial to winning the game. Mentions that he was nervous in the first game but not now. He mentions that it is about using skills and just doing the job. Adds that the coaching staff has been fantastic and states that every game is a bonus for him and he looks to just enjoy himself.
Towards the end, there was a stand between Clint Hinchliffe and Hilton Cartwright and they did get a few balls to go over the ropes but the Strikers kept on taking wickets to extinguish that fire. Henry Thornton was the pick of the bowlers for them as he took 4 wickets for just 26 runs. Adelaide Strikers are peaking at the right time and this win will do them a world of good.
Adelaide Strikers did not have the biggest of totals on the board but they backed themselves to defend it. They started brilliantly at the top and had Melbourne Stars on 37 for 4 in the 7th over. The Melbourne Stars simply did not have the firepower in their side to get themselves back in the game after losing their top order early. Glenn Maxwell, Joe Clarke and Marcus Stoinis failed to make an impact and that hurt them a lot.
A brilliant, brilliant show by Adelaide Strikers and they move to the fifth position now! Melbourne Stars would be very disappointed with how they batted in this game. They should have chased this down.
