David Warner, Hyderabad skipper, says they are disappointed with their performance. On his dismissal he says that he does not remember the last time got out in this fashion. On Mitchell Marsh's injury, he says that it does not look good and it seems that he might not bowl over again atleast for sometime. On the run chase, he says that they had it under control but the over from Chahal changed the game. On his future games he says that they will have it sorted in the team meetings before their next encounter.
Yuzvendra Chahal is named the Man of the Match. He starts by saying that he is happy with his performance. Adds that the wicket helped the spinners and he bowled accordingly. Mentions that he tried to bowl outside off and a little bit fuller for Bairstow. Chahal also says that he was working on his googlies and today it came off.
Virat Kohli, Bangalore skipper, says that they are happy with the victory. Adds that Chahal bowled very well and the game turned after that particular over from Chahal. He further praises Chahal by saying that he showed that if you have skills you can excel anywhere and in any condition. Mentions that Devdutt Padikkal played very well and Finch supported him very well. Kohli also says that 163 turned out to be a competitive total but their target was around 170. He credits ABD for his efforts with the bat.
AB de Villiers is down for an interview. He starts by saying it is a good start from the team. Adds that it was important for him to get out there and play with confidence. Mentions they have not played cricket for 6 months and it is a good way for them to arrive in the league. De Villiers also says that Chahal bowled very well today. Ends by saying that he is happy with his comeback.
Earlier in the day, after opting to field first, Hyderabad started well but were lost during the middle overs conceding a lot of runs. The pair of Devdutt Padikkal and Aaron Finch started well amassing 90 runs in 11 overs. The duo though departed in quick succession but the platform was set for them to explode. Virat Kohli failed in a rarest of rare thing but AB de Villiers held one end to navigate the Bangalore innings. His fifty in the end powered Bangalore to a competitive total. The score in the end turned out to be an above par total. On the bowling front, Bhuvneshwar Kumar was the best bowler but he did not get any wickets. Mitchell Marsh gave a bit of a scare to Hyderabad for limping off the field. Hope he is fit to bowl again in the next upcoming matches.
A scintillating bowling performance from the Bangalore bowlers. The only blot was Umesh Yadav as he conceded 48 in his 4 overs. The most successful one for them was Yuzvendra Chahal who in his 4 overs took 3 important wickets and conceeded just 18 runs. Saini was smart enough as he bowled brilliantly during the death overs as he took two wickets in one over. Shivam Dube also took a couple as Steyn ended the Hyderabad innings with a wicket to his name.
In the battle of the South, Bangalore emerge victorious. What an all round performance it has been from Kohli's men. Chasing 164 for victory, Hyderabad started on a positive note but a brilliant reflex action from Umesh Yadav saw David Warner run out. Then Bairstow and Manish Pandey combined to bring the Hyderabad innings back on track with a 71-run stand. But the introduction of Yuzvendra Chahal changed the game on its head as he took the wickets of Manish Pandey, Jonny Bairstow and Vijay Shanakar in quick time. Since then the procession started as Hyderabad lost wickets at regular intervals. In the end, Hyderabad fell short by a mere 10 runs as Bangalore open their account in the Indian T20 League 2020.
