That is the coverage from this match! But the action in the CPL continues as Saint Lucia Kings will take on Barbados Royals on 11th September at 10 am local (2 pm GMT). Do join us for that. Till then, goodbye and cheers!
Right then, earlier in the day Jamaica Tallawahs put up a mammoth 211 on the board courtesy to Kennar Lewis's explosive batting which laid the foundation for them. Saint Lucia Kings looked like they would get there but in the end, the Tallawahs proved to be too good as they won by a 55-runs.
The skipper of Jamaica Tallawahs, Rovman Powell is up for a chat. He says that the Powerplay was the most impressive one and the batters set it up from there. Mentions that they found a little loophole in the Powerplay and in the backend against Kings. Tells that Imad's absence is going to be a big void and big shoes to fill but they have enough players on the bench.
The skipper of Saint Lucia Kings, Faf du Plessis is up for a chat. He says that they didn't start well with the ball and the opposition got off to an absolute flier. He adds that they did pull it back a bit but 200 plus was always going to be tough to chase and they should have bowled their spinners more. He also says that it's strange that so many catches went down today and also in the whole tournament. He adds that they are disappointed because they were set up nicely but lost their way in the middle and that hurt them. He ends by saying that the next two games are day games which they prefer to play more.
Kennar Lewis is awarded the Man of the Match. He says that he just thinks to bat well every day and looked to maximize in the Powerplay. Mentions that the wicket was good and spinners were getting turn but he tried to put the bad balls away. Tells that he can advise the spinners from behind the sticks, if it is spinning or not.
Saint Lucia Kings were off to the best start possible as the scored 79 runs in the Powerplay and looked on course to chase down the target but the double strike from Carlos Brathwaite pegged them back. They had three batters being dismissed in the 30s and that went against them. The pressure was mounting and wickets kept tumbling. The Kings dug their own grave with some cheap wickets and will be disappointed with the batting display.
What a comeback it has been by Jamaica Tallawahs with the ball. Their bowlers got peppered early on by Andre Fletcher but they did get two wickets in the Powerplay. Then Carlos Brathwaite came on in the ninth over and got both Deyal and Chase who were set at the crease. This proved to be the turning point as from then on, the Tallawahs had control of the match. Imad Wasim played an important role with his three wickets and the others bowled well when it mattered. On the whole Tallawahs will be happy with that display.
Jamaica Tallawahs come roaring back to do the double over Saint Lucia Kings and move above them in the points table. They win by a big margin of 55 runs.
