Sydney Thunder beat Sydney Sixers by 46 runs

Right. That ends the first of a hat-trick of double headers. In the afternoon game, the Scorchers prevailed over the Hurrricanes while in the evening, the Thunder won the Sydney Smash. The Scorchers are second now, with 28 points, while the Thunder are third with 27. The Sixers are comfortably placed but would want to win one more game to certify a top two spot. Saturday, 23rd January, 2021 sees Melbourne Renegades take on the Brisbane Heat at 4.05 pm local (0505 GMT), at the Docklands. And then, in the evening, at the MCG, the Melbourne Stars hostĀ the Perth Scorchers. That game is at 7.15 pm local (0815 GMT). Join us then. ADIOS! TAKE CARE!
ALEX HALES HAS BEEN NAMED THE PLAYER OF THE MATCH. Not surprising to say the least. A knock which comprised of 9 fours and 8 sixes, taking the breath of the Sixers away.
Earlier in the evening, the Thunder went on the attack from the word go, after being inserted. Alex Hales lit the Adelaide Oval with his scintillating century while receiving decent contributions from the others. The Sixers were all over the place, not quite able to bowl conistently well.
The Thunder bowled really well. Unlike the Sixers, who were short and wide, the Thunder varied their lines, lengths and even the pace. Brendan Doggett was the pick of the bowlers, hurrying the batsmen up with his back-of-a-length balls, while Ben Cutting and Tanveer Sangha did reasonably well.
One good thing is that the run chase did not die down early. Philippe and Vince got off to a good start while Henriques and Silk tried their best. But in the end, it was too much to ask of the batsmen. Henriques was given out unluckily on 56 but even then, it might have lessened the defeat margin by perhaps 15-20 runs.
Hmmm...score 180-plus and still lose the game, that too by nearly 50 runs. Sounds ridiculous, doesn't it? But that is how this game was. On a belter of a track, 418 runs were scored for 10 wickets. Nothing much for the bowlers and in a game of slam bang, the Thunder roared louder.
