Man of the Match
Wanindu Hasaranga
Commentry
Dasun Shanaka is handed over the trophy and his teammates surround him to pose for the cameras. Big moment for a young team. They were written off even before this T20I series kicked off and have managed to surprise one and all. That's all we have from this Sri Lankan tour of Pakistan. The touring team will fly back home as a satisfied unit whereas the hosts have got a reality check in this format. How will they respond? We will find that out soon. Until next time, it's goodbye and cheers!
Victorious Sri Lankan skipper, Dasun Shanaka says that it's a good victory and thanks the Pakistani crowd for supporting them as well. Mentions that all the players were bonded and terms it the key for their success. States that all his players are equally talented and their unity was the secret. Feels that if you play smart cricket, there is always a chance to win. Believes that they took good calls in the middle which helped them win the series. Thanks the PCB and the Pakistani crowd for inviting them for a series.
Pakistan skipper, Sarfaraz Ahmed starts by saying that they recovered well with the ball and had a good partnership going as well during the chase but then they could not get the momentum after the 10 overs and that cost them the match. Rues the dropped catches and their bowling in the middle overs. On his batting spot, Sarfaraz replies that the batting position has been the same for quite a while and they wanted to try out as many players as possible before the next series. Admits that they have to work hard in all the three departments, mainly in the middle overs. Concludes by thanking the Sri Lankan team for visiting Pakistan and having a good series.
Man of the Match and Series, Wanindu Hasaranga! Says that this has been the best that he has bowled in his career. Further adds that he looks to take wickets with his wrong 'uns. On absorbing pressure, Wanindu replies that he tries to bowl as many dot balls as he can.
Sri Lanka were brilliant in the field. Unlike Pakistan, they were alert and the intensity was top notch. Kasun Rajitha and Lahiru Kumara bowled with a lot of fire and mixed their variations smartly. Wanindu Hasaranga once again stood out and finished with a 3-wicket haul, truly a find for the Islanders. They judged the nature of the pitch and bowled accordingly and it reflects their refreshed mindset as a unit.
Right at the beginning of the run chase, Pakistan lost Fakhar Zaman on the first ball. After that Haris Sohail and Babar Azam constructed a partnership but it was on the slower side. That didn't take care of the required rate. Babar was rusty in his innings while Haris also slowed down after a promising start. Sri Lanka should be commended for the way they kept their patience when the partnership was developing. All their bowlers stuck to the task and varied their pace judiciously. Eventually, the 76-run stand was broken and the Pakistani chase got derailed. The batsmen who followed never got going and found it tough to time their shots on a pitch which was holding up.
Handshakes all around! Smiling faces. The Lankan lads are celebrating. They were inexperienced and under a new captain but played fearless cricket to clean sweep the series. The young guns have achieved something that even Sri Lanka's 'first-choice team' has never achieved - A series whitewash in T20Is! Kudos to them. They have beaten the number 1 T20I side! The Sri Lankan boys are taking a lap of honour to thank the crowd.

OUT! Stumped! Hasaranga strikes! A googly that deceives Sohail. The scoreboard pressure has got the better of the batsman. The asking rate was over 10 and Sohail decides to go after the leg spinner. OUT! Hits the bull's eye on the first delivery! What a start for Sri Lanka. A duck for Zaman. What a top nut this one! Good length ball landing around leg and nipping back in a hint. Zaman tries playing straight but misses and is hit on the thigh pad first. It then deflects onto his stumps to break the hearts of his fans. Body blow for Pakistan.
We are all set to start the chase! Fakhar Zaman and Babar Azam make their way out to the middle in pursuit of 148. Kasun Rajitha will start for the visitors.
Pakistan were brilliant with the ball. Mohammad Amir spearheaded them with a 3-wicket haul while Imad Wasim also left his impact. The others were decent as well barring Usman Shinwari who went for aplenty. The pitch has some spin to offer and if Sri Lanka manage to get some early wickets, it's game on. Do join us in a short while for the run chase.
After opting to bat, Sri Lanka started sensibly but then lost wickets in a flurry. Oshada Fernando then steadied the ship somewhat through a little stand with Angelo Perera and then finally came a partnership of substance between Fernando and Dasun Shanaka. That put the Lankan innings on the right path but they failed to finish it on a high. Just 13 runs came in the last two overs.
Let's begin with an interesting observation by one of our scorers - All the wickets have fallen on the last ball of the over. Sharp one! Let's summarize this first half. In one sentence - A clumsy Pakistan have managed to restrict Sri Lanka under 150. Top effort by their bowlers and had their fielders supported aptly, the final total would have been a lot lesser.

OUT! Run out! Shinwari nails his yorker this time. It's around off and Fernando just manages to dig it out. They attempt for a quick run and the bowler attacks the ball. He picks up the ball, breaks the stumps and finds Hasaranga short. The third umpire finds the same in the replays. SRI LANKA END ON 147/7!

OUT! Fantastic running catch by Fakhar Zaman to put Shanaka out of his misery. He never got going but nonetheless was involved in a handy 76-run stand with Oshada Fernando. A timely breakthrough for Pakistan. Wahab angles across a back of a length delivery outside off, Shanaka makes room and slams it aerially over cover-point. Fakhar charges from the deep and dives low to grab the catch inches over the surface. Finally a wicket to Wahab's name on the last ball of his spell. A few catches went down off his bowling.

NOT OUT! NO BAT! Yorker length delivery outside off, Oshada fails to keep it out and the ball goes to the keeper who appeals for a caught behind but nothing from the umpire. Hello and welcome everyone! Only face-saving is left as far as the number 1 T20I team is concerned after getting outclassed in back-to-back games by an inexperienced Sri Lankan outfit. The touring team, on the other hand, will be eyeing their first-ever series whitewash in this format. We're expecting changes in both the sides and will have to wait for that. The Lahore crowd has come in large numbers for the last game of the series and the stadium has turned pink to create awareness about breast cancer. Can the home team give something to cheer for the locals? Stay with us to find out...
