That's it from this encounter! The Kiwis put in a dominant display and have won the series 2-0. The final T20I will be held on Monday, 30th November 2020 at 1900 local (0600 GMT). We hope to have your company for that game. Until then, cheers!
The skipper of New Zealand, Tim Southee, starts off by saying that it is always nice to win the series and they put in a good performance. Feels happy and says that it is an incredible day for Phillips and he has that X factor about him and he has also had good experience in CPL. Also praises Conway and says that he is playing great and this is a great experience for him. Adds that they just want to get better and the message for the final game will be the same and the focus will be on winning the final game. Feels that they bowled well and they bowled in the right areas.
The West Indies skipper, Kieron Pollard, starts by saying that it went in the opposite direction of what they planned. Adds that when they are bad, they are really bad and that they could not execute their plans. Says that they lost their way in the middle overs and this is not the standard they want to set for themselves. Feels that the mindset is something that needs to be changed and that they have no excuse as a team when it comes to their mindset. Adds that the toss can go either way and that the decision did not work out today.
For his brilliant show with the bat and in the field, Glenn Phillips is named the Man of the Match. He starts by saying that he is happy with his innings. Adds that his knee pain is looking fine now. Mentions that they have to adjust to the conditions quickly. Phillips says batting with Conway was incredible. Tells his performance in CPL also helped him.
Earlier in the day, the Kiwis were on a roll as they smashed their way to 238 at the end of the 20 overs. It was the Glenn Phillips' show as he scored a massive century. He was well complimented by Devon Conway, who also reached a half-century. The bowling by West Indies was poor and they were rightfully punished. All in all, a great show by the Black Caps.
The bowling and fielding by the Black Caps was on the money. Even though they had a big total to play with, they still needed a strong performance and they were provided with a great show by their bowlers. They kept picking the wickets throughout the innings and never let the Windies into the game. Santner and Jamieson, both picked up 2 wickets and all their remaining bowlers picked up a wicket each. Top performance!
Chasing a big total like 239, you would need a big start but the Men in Purple never found that. Their batters kept trying to get the runs on the board but they were never really in the chase. Hetmyer, Pollard and Fletcher tried to initiate a fightback but they too lost their wickets in the process and in the end, it was way too much for them to do.
This has been a comprehensive show by the Black Caps. They were tremendous with the bat, with the ball and out on the field and with this win, they have wrapped up this 3-match T20I series as they are leading the series 2-0 with one game to go. Tim Southee will be a happy skipper.
