Right then, that is it from Match No. 21 where the Deccan Gladiators have bulldozed past Northern Warriors with a dominating performance from the bat. However, the action continues in the Abu Dhabi T10 League as New York Strikers take on Team Abu Dhabi in a short while. You can just switch tabs to enjoy all the coverage of that game. Cheers!
The victorious skipper of Deccan Gladiators, Nicholas Pooran says that the performance was great and it was pure brilliance from the squad for such a victory. Mentions in a joking manner that it feels that Tom Kohler-Cadmore and Andre Fletcher had something else then the rest during lunch that might have helped them with such striking. Adds that this tournament will do good to a lot of palyers as people will be looking forward to it and he feels happy for his teammates doing well in a winning cause.
Nuwan Thushara is the player of the match for his scintillating bowling performance. He says that the ball was swinging and that helped him to execute his skill to perfection in this game. Adds that he backed his skill and despite this being a shorter format the execution of his skillset helped him massively. Mentions that he is thrilled to work with such great coaches and is putting in his efforts to do well for his side.
Time for presentation...
Earlier in the game, The Northern Warriors managed to score 100 runs with James Neesham and Angelo Mathews scoring in bulk for the side with 31 and 29 respectively. Rahul Chopra batted well too for his cameo of 14. The bowling was good from the Deccan Gladiators as they picked up wickets regularly with Nuwan Thushara being the standout picking up 4 wickets.
The target set by Northern Warriors was not big but was defendable but the bowlers were smashed to all the corners of the park from the word go. Four maximums of the very first over made sure that the bowlers of Northern Warriors were in trouble. The only positive for the Northern Warriors was Sultan Ahmed as he picked up a wicket and gave away just 19 runs in his 2 overs in a game that saw his side leak more then 100 runs in just over 6 overs.
Chasing down a tricky total of 100 the Deccan Gladiators batters walked out with just one thing on their mind and that was to dispatch the ball to every corner of the park and they succeeded in that with utmost clinicality. Tom Kohler-Cadmore was ruthless at its finest, to say the least as he smashed a staggering 69 from just 19 deliveries. He was well helped by Andre Fletcher who wracked up 18 runs in just 9 deliveries while Andre Russell did the rest by smashing a maximum to wrap this up.
A sensational array of strokeplay from the batters of Deccan Gladiators made sure that the side chased this down and won handsomely adding to their NRR as they won by 8 wickets and 23 balls still to be bowled. A perfect game of cricket with the bat in the hand for Deccan Gladiators.
